Thrifting Thursday- Vol. 24

With our move complete and moving focus to decorating there are many projects and fun posts in the near future. First and foremost, I’d like to thank all the wonderful ladies who contributed to my blog in the last month. You helped me out in a tremendous way!

Thrifting Thursday is going to be an exceptional time for me over the next several weeks. I have so many things that I have been dying to show you.

I can’t help it, I wanna show you my best find first! I just can’t wait anymore!

Here it is…

I was shopping for a computer desk to go in my office/craft room and I knew I wanted it to be of a mid century flair. We have several mid century furniture stores around town but they’re so far out of my price range it is almost painful to even window shop there.

Lucky me, I stumbled upon this beauty of a desk at a local thrift store and only had to dish out $25!

SCORE!

Phoenix Theatre’s Hormel New Works Festival

This weekend is one of those working kind of weekends. The ones where you don’t expect to really get anything else done. The laundry will pile up and my life will mostly be placed on hold. This week has been crazy busy for me at work in my day job life. Working on last minute deadlines and projects to prepare for the New Works Festival has been my life. I’m certainly not complaining because if I’m going to put in a long work week, I’m glad it is getting people to check out all the New Works Festival here at Phoenix Theatre. If you’re in the Phoenix area I really hope you’ll make it down to the festival. There are 4 main staged readings and so many other offerings. If you’re not in the area, you can live stream many of the events from the festival by through the Livestream Website. Tickets are only $10 and there is a VIP Pass available for a chance to see it all.

Check out some of my kinetic typography work in this promo video.

More information and a full schedule of events can be found at the Phoenix Theatre Website.

I will be around the entire festival so say hello if you stop by!

Yup… I’m a fan.

Hard to believe, I know. In honor of the end of an era I pulled together some wonderful items any Potter fan would love to own.

We didn’t make it out to the midnight showing last night, but we have tickets for later tonight. I used to wait in line for hours and see them all at midnight, but somehow going to work the next day with no sleep just doesn’t seem as easy anymore. Ha, I think I’m getting old.

Have a Happy Harry Potter Day

Guest Post- Ashley of Merry May

Here to continue my guest posting is Ashley of Merry May Handmade. I have been following and reading Merry May for quite some time. There is just something special about reading a blog when the author lives in your own backyard. I met Ashley for the first time back at a Crafeteria and then again at the AZ Blogger Meet Up. I’m so happy she is here on my blog this week and I can’t wait to spend more time with her as we now live just a few miles from each other.

Hi there! I’m Ashley and I blog over at Merry May. I’m super excited and honored that Sarah invited me to do a guest post while she makes the big move to downtown, and even more excited that we’ll be so close! Coffee time!

Anyways, I love all things home and I’m such a homebody! There’s nothing better than coming home to a welcoming place that exudes your personality. As big of a pain moving is, it’s so exciting to start fresh and have a blank canvas to work with!

I thought I’d share with y’all some things that inspire my home decor and how I try to incorporate then into my home!

Vintage and Antiques. I love all things old. I know it’s silly but I like to think of all the stories the object holds. These objects inspire me so much and I love to fill my house with them. From little dolls and tchotchkes, to embroideries and linens, heck even to furniture. I love it all. And a great piece can really make a beautiful statement.

Here’s my vintage record cabinet with vintage two kitty paint by numbers.

Etsy is FILLED with tons of shops with all kinds of yummy vintage things for your home.  Here’s one of my favorites.

Collections. Honestly, I’ve kinda got a sickness when it comes to collecting things. I collect dishes and teacups, antique quilts, linens, cameras, books… it’s really getting outta hand. Still, it’s pretty fun.

Here’s my collection of antique dinerware

Build a collection of pretty dishes here.

Or snatch up an instant collection like this one, this one, or this one

Handmade. I’m so inspired by all the love that goes into handmade things. I love to surround myself with such meaningful pieces.

My great grandmother made the neutral afghan.  It’s one of my prized possessions.

Love love love these! Oh and these!! I have the poster of this and it’s one of my most favorite things!

Nature. I also love being outside and think every home needs a little bit of nature infused into it. From a tiny herb garden to a painting of flowers. I love bringing nature into my home as well as making the backyard or patio an extension of the home, with comfy pillows and cozy furniture.

My pals gave me this adorable little terrarium. Nature-y and  handmade!

This shop is filled with tons of awesome, nature inspired things to bring the outside in. One of my favorite things to collect is ceramic planters. Especially ones with adorable animals on them : ) They look great clustered on a windowsill or bookshelf. Get some here.

Thanks so much for having me! I hope you enjoy checking out all the links! And be sure to stop by and say hello!

Thrifting Thursday- Guest Blogger Jessica of The Doe or the Deer

Jessica is back again this week to share for Thrifting Thursday!

  • Thrifted? Fiberglass shell chairs
  • Found? Drove past a yard sale after a maternity photo shoot I had just done for a couple. I spotted 20 of them out of the corner of my eye and had to immediately pull over to check them out, WITH the couple I just shot in the car… They were negotiated down to $80 bucks for 4 and my clients paid for them as a tip for my services!
  • Now lives? They are now happily living in my dining room, paired with my Danish Mid-Century Moller table.
  • Regret? Not buying more… I went back the next day to get a couple more and BOOM, they were ALL gone.  Sad.

Happy Birthday America

Happy 4th of July everyone. I thought I’d pull together a little round up before I head out for the day’s activities. We have a little bit more cleaning to finish up at the old apartment and then the fun begins. I can’t wait for BBQ, fireworks and hanging out with friends. I hope your day is truly celebratory.
